Habitat for Humanity Rebuilds Dutterer’s Park

On Friday, Oct. 9, more than 200 volunteers from Baltimore Gas & Electric, the City of Westminster, Boys & Girls Club of Westminster, Habitat for Humanity and KaBOOM! gathered at Dutterer’s Park in Westminster to rebuild the aging playground. It was chilly and clouds threatened rain but that didn’t stop hundreds of people from descending on downtown Mount Airy Oct. 17 for the Beards, Beers & Brats Festival featuring a cornhole competition. Maryland Microbrewery Festival

An Afternoon of Brews, Music and Art Hundreds of thirsty folks showed up at Union Mills Homestead in Westminster on Sept. 26 to sample beers from 19 breweries for the 10th annual Maryland Microbrewery Festival. In addition to breweries there were food vendors, arts and crafts vendors and live music. Amazing Peace

You might have noticed that I end each Editor’s Note with “Amazing Peace” as my salutation. The phrase is actually the title of a poem by Maya Angelou that captures the spirit of the holiday season so perfectly that I want to savor it year round. So by using it as my salutation in letters, emails and publications, I’m called back to the peace of Angelou’s poem.
