Bill Haley Jr. and The Comets is a high-energy five-piece combo performing a rousing, crowd-pleasing set of songs first recorded at the dawn of Rock ‘n’ Roll by the legendary Bill Haley and The Comets, and other popular tunes from the 1950s and ‘60s. This “Rock ‘N’ Roll History Show” features Bill Haley Jr. sharing the inside stories and historical context behind the songs he sings backed by his talented band of Comets. This special date night for families celebrates National Family Day with a spaghetti dinner and interactive family activities guaranteed to connect your gang. After the meal, a special break-out session for parents and older students will be presented by the Carroll State’s Attorney’s Office, featuring the powerful movie “Heroin Still Kills.” Younger children will enjoy supervised crafts and activities hosted by local 4-H groups during the breakout session. Maryland-raised Nashville-based guitarist Jordan Tice is one of the most exciting young artists on the American roots music scene. He has played with legendary performers like Dave Rawlings, Tony Trischka, Michelle Shocked, and Steve Martin, and is part of the instrumental supergroup Hawktail, which features members of Punch Brothers and Crooked Still. On November 17th, the Masterworks Chorale will present a program entitled “A Choral Harvest” in observance of the season. Works will include “The Promise of Living” by Aaron Copland, selections from J.S. Bach’s Cantata “Wir danken dir, Gott, wir danken dir” BWV 29, and the motet “Nun danket alle Gott” by Johann Pachelbel. From the contemporary angle are two movements from Randall Thompson’sFrostiana, “My Journey Yours” by Atlanta-based composer Elise Witt, and a lovely setting of “Come Ye Thankful People Come” by Jason McCoy.
