“Arrangement for a Silent Orchestra” – Paintings and Video by Julia Comnick @ Rice Gallery, Peterson Hall

Arizona artist Julie Comnick plans to combine her creations and music through her exhibit “Arrangement for a Silent Orchestra,” set to open Nov. 7 and go through Dec. 6 in Rice Gallery. The exhibit, presented by McDaniel College’s Department of Art and Art History, features Comnick’s paintings and drawings that engage the pictorial languages of representation and narration, while posing questions about social circumstances and practices. Rice Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 10 a.m.–4 p.m., and Saturday, noon–5 p.m. For more information, call 410-857-2595.

The Making Rock Showcase is directed by McDaniel faculty member Roxanne Wehking, who has been teaching and playing rock music for most of her career.

Westminster Symphony Orchestra Concert: “Music Without Borders” @ WMC Alumni Hall, McDaniel College

“Music Without Borders” highlights music from around the world, showcasing a diverse variety of composers. The concert features McDaniel student Ethan Brown, a music major from Taneytown, Md., on Russian composer Alexander Glazunov’s Concerto for alto saxophone and string orchestra.

Linda Kirkpatrick, senior lecturer in music, directs the orchestra, which is comprised of McDaniel students and music faculty members, as well as students from Carroll Community College and community musicians.

Schneider first came to prominence on NBC’s ‘Saturday Night Live,’ along with his SNL friends Adam Sandler, Tim Meadows, and David Spade. He starred in some of the top comedy features of the past 20 years including ‘Grown Ups,’ ‘You Don’t Mess With The Zohan,’ ‘Big Daddy’ and ‘The Waterboy.’ Rob also starred in the movie ‘Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo,’ which was the second highest grossing DVD in the US in 2000, along with ‘The Hot Chick’ and ‘The Animal. Rob is also a three time Emmy winner as part of SNL’s writing staff.
