In late August, four local law enforcement leaders took to the roof of the Westminster Dunkin’ Donuts for 30 hours to raise funds and awareness for Special Olympics Maryland.
While the temperatures were high and the hours long, the team comprised of Chief Jeff Spaulding (Westminster Police Department), Sheriff Jim DeWees (Carroll County Sheriff’s Office), Brian DeLeonardo (Carroll County State’s Attorney) and Lt. Patrick McCrory (Maryland State Police), stuck to their guns in the end raised $11,500.
The contributions have now been tallied and we are collectively pleased to announce that $11,500 was raised during the thirty-hour event to support the athletes of Special Olympics Maryland.
This marked the seventh year that local law enforcement representatives participated in the event. More than $59,000 for Special Olympics Maryland has been raised in that time.
