Bring the peanuts. Forget the Crackerjacks. There will be plenty of those, but they will be of the political kind.
Local Republicans and Democrats will put aside political barbs in October, at least for a few hours, when the parties take to the field at Westminster City Park for the Third Annual “All Politics Aside – Bipartisan Softball Game.”
The game will be held October 10, from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Westminster City Park. Game ball will be thrown by a local celebrity at 6:45 p.m., rain or shine.
“Republicans and Democrats have been spewing political barbs across the Continental Divide for too long in Carroll. It’s time for a little fun to bring sides together,” said Andy Biller, North American Sales Manager for Intellitech, Inc., and a former Republican team player.
The teams are co-ed and members are encouraged to sign the All (Most) Politics Aside Pledge that prohibits blasting President George W. Bush’s leadership or assailing Barrack Obama’s youthful inexperience.
The pledge also encourages participants to recruit spectators to their respective political parties.
