Hard Swimmin’ Fish Concert

The Carroll County Arts Council welcomes back the acclaimed blues quartet Hard Swimmin’ Fish. Their down-home roots sound pilfers from the best that early American music has to offer including blues, jazz, funk and swing, and churns it all up into a spicy brew that is familiar yet uniquely their own. 8th Annual Peepshow
Friday, March 27 – Monday, April 6, 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. daily, including Easter Sunday
There is no better way to celebrate the arrival of spring than with sugary goodness at the Carroll County Arts Council’s 8th annual PEEPshow to be held Friday March 27 through Monday April 6 at the Carroll Arts Center. This event features nearly 200 marshmallow masterpieces, including sculptures, dioramas, mosaics and even videos, all crafted from or inspired by sugary sweet Peeps®. Previous year’s events have featured a wide variety of entries, including a life-sized Olaf from the movie Frozen, the “Statue of Peeperty,” the “Big Bird,” “Peep Panther,” and a host of magical monsters, sports heroes, movie characters and other clever celebrations of pop culture, history, and fine art. The public can vote for their favorites by purchasing vote chips that will be sold for $1 each, 10 for $5, 25 for $10, 75 for $25, or 200 for $50. All proceeds will benefit the Carroll County Arts Council. Admission to the event is free. The PEEPshow is sponsored by local orthodontist, Dr. Edward M. Maryland Ensemble Theatre: The Elephant Man
Saturday, May 9 at 8 p.m.
Maryland Ensemble Theatre will return to the stage of the Carroll Arts Center with a thought-provoking performance of Bernard Pomerance’s The Elephant Man. The play follows the gruesome life of Joseph Merrick, a member of a traveling freak show, whose true-life story inspired David Lynch’s BAFTA-winning 1980 film. MET Associate Artistic Director Julie Herber will direct the 1979 Tony Award winner for Best Play. Tickets: $17 for Adults and $15 for CCAC Members, 18 & Under, and Seniors 60+. A cast of talented young Carroll County actors take the stage at the Carroll Arts Center in a fully staged production of the musical Cinderella Kids. Poor Cinderella is endlessly mistreated by her wicked stepmother and stepsisters and denied a chance to go to the royal ball. With a little help from her mice friends, and a lot of help from her Fairy Godmother, Cinderella’s dreams come true. She goes to the ball, meets the Prince, and falls in love! With a beautiful score, including “A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes” and the classic “Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo,” Disney’s Cinderella Kids will charm its way into your heart, and remind audiences that dreams really can come true.
