Taneytown Heritage & Museum Association April 24th meeting will feature guest speaker Matthew Dodd. Dodd will be dressed in period clothes of the “Knights of the Road”, who rode the rails on boxcars from town to town looking for work in the early 1900’s. He uses period songs and stories from hobo autographies telling how the hobo lived. He sings and plays the acoustic guitar, banjo, mandolin and harmonica.
Dodd of Mechanicsburg, Pa is a retired special education teacher and has traveled throughout the United States and Canada performing his love of American history and American folk music. His music was featured in an Emmy nominated documentary film on Civil War music, produced by Nashville Public Television.
There will be a brief business meeting at 7 p.m. followed by the guest speaker. Light refreshments will be served. Meeting will be held at Grace United Church of Christ, 49 W. Baltimore Street, Parish Hall, Taneytown, Md. Parking in back of church. Meeting is open to the public.
