Monday – April 24th – Taneytown Heritage & Museum Association April meeting will feature guest speaker Matthew Dodd of Mechanicsburg, Pa. dressed in period clothes, sings and tells the story of the “Knights of the Road” who rode the rails in the early 1900’s on box cars going from town to town for work. He uses period stories and songs from hobo autobiographies, hobo gear, lingo and symbols. Dodd is a retired special education teacher and has traveled many years as a performing musician. He has performed throughout the United States and Canada using his love of American folk music and American history. He plays acoustic guitar, harmonica, banjo, and mandolin. His music was featured in an Emmy-nominated documentary film on Civil War music, produced by the Nashville, TN Public Television.
There will be a brief business meeting followed by the guest speaker. Meeting at Grace United Church of Christ, 49 W. Baltimore Street, Parish Hall, Taneytown, Md. Parking in back of church. Enter thru side covered porch. Light refreshments will be served. The meeting is open to the public.
