Tickets were sold out for the Moscow Symphony Orchestra’s December performance at Carroll Community College’s Scott Center Theater.
The 40-piece orchestra was the highlight of Carroll Community College Foundation’s Starry Night Gala, which garnered approximately $40,000 in ticket sales and proceeds from a silent auction.
“We’re still floating over the success of the night,” said Dr. Faye Pappalardo, president of Carroll Community College. “When we thought about plays and concerts in our theater, we were dreaming large. The joy of seeing the Moscow Symphony Orchestra in the theater will be hard to match.”
The gala featured a cocktail reception in the college’s Great Hall before the symphony’s performance, and coffee and desserts at its conclusion.
The event was part of The Partners Campaign, the college’s fundraiser that was launched last year and wraps up in the first half of 2007.
“Having a profitable event is wonderful, but equally important is the opportunity to show off the college in a beautiful way,” said Steve Wantz, the foundation’s executive director. “By all accounts, it was an amazing evening.”
Silvery Moon Ball Update
Proceeds from ticket sales, a silent auction and sponsorships at the Carroll Hospital Center Auxiliary’s annual Silvery Moon Ball at Martin’s Westminster on November 4, garnered more than $90,000, which will go toward the hospital expansion and services, including the Family Birthplace Special Care Nursery expansion.
