The Carroll Biz Challenge Kickoff Event

Calling all entrepreneurs! It’s like American Idol meets Shark Tank, only it’s local. The purpose of the Carroll Biz Challenge is to bring together entrepreneurs and business experts. Through the Biz Challenges, we hope to inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs to build businesses that will be the backbone of Carroll County for years to come.

Teelin Irish Dance

This innovative show features spirited Irish dance and a variety of live Celtic music. Their thunderous percussive choreography is only surpassed by the thunderous applause when this talented dance company takes the stage! Showtimes at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m., cost is $18 for adults and $14 for ages 25 and under and 60 and up.

Sober Truth Black Tie & Mocktails Gala and Straight Face Poker Tournament

Enjoy delicious mocktails and hors d’oeuvres provided by the Food Chick. General admission is $95 which includes table card games, roulette, and more. For a seat in the poker tournament it costs $125 and it includes everything above. Poker seats are limited and the winner takes a 65″ smart TV. Proceeds benefit The Sober Truth substance abuse treatment program.

IBR Bull Riding

The International Bull Riders bring bull riding to Carroll County. Watch as the top bull riders battle for final standings. Doors open at 5 p.m., and the show starts at 7 p.m. Admission is $20 for adults, $10 for children 6-12 and children under 6 are free. Bring your children out for the Little Wranglers Rodeo prior to the start of the show. Food, drink and bleacher seating available.

Penguin Random House Book Fair

Includes discounted new books, children’s activities, featured authors and more! The Book Fair is devoted to literacy and education and helps to raise much needed funds for student scholarships at Carroll Community College. – Event is free to attend.

Gaelic Mishap

Not your mother’s Irish band, this exciting Baltimore-area band performs Irish rock and traditional Irish songs with a modern flare. Formed in 2010, the exciting Gaelic Mishap Celtic Rock Band includes musicians who span a generation, each bringing a unique musical influence to popular traditional and contemporary Irish music. These guys effortlessly blend the fiddle, guitar, bass, harmonica, bodhran and drums with unsurpassed vocals, to give you a show that you won’t want to miss! – Tickets cost $26 for adults and $22 ages 25 and under and ages 60 and up.

Celtic Canter 5K and Irish Celebration

The 10th annual Celtic Canter takes place in historic downtown Westminster at 9 a.m. with a picturesque start/finish. After the race enjoy a post-race party, awards ceremony and Irish celebration complete with pub crawl, live music, vendors, and activities for children.

March 28

MTA Pickleball Tournament

The first ever Pickleball Tournament for the Town of Mount Airy will be held at Prospect Park.
9 a.m. – noon: Novice/Advanced Novice Mixed Doubles—create your own team;
1 p.m. – 4 p.m.: Intermediate/Advanced Intermediate Mixed Doubles—create your own team.
Cost is $20 per team for each session. There will only be 8 teams per session. Visit www.mountairymd.org.

April 3 – 13

Peep Show

Don’t miss the 13th annual display of marshmallow masterpieces with more than 150 sculptures, dioramas, graphic arts, oversized characters and mosaics created and inspired by PEEPS®. The sweet event benefits the Carroll Arts Center and attracts thousands.

Empty Bowls of Carroll County

Created to bring awareness to hunger of all types, foster community, and raise funds to support those in need. At Empty Bowls of Carroll County, you will experience a delicious sampling of soups provided and served by the area’s best restaurants. Ticket price ($16.50) includes soup, bread, water and a take-home, ceramic bowl as a reminder of those whose bowls remain empty. Desserts and beverages will be available for an additional donation. Soup samples will be provided by several local restaurants. Coffee provided by Furnace Hills Coffee.
