What woman inspires you and why?
Have you ever heard of Lillian Baumbach Jacobs, the first female master plumber? She also grew up in a family of plumbers in Arlington, Virginia and was quite the celebrity in the 1950s and ‘60s, appearing on “What’s My Line” and being interviewed by Walter Cronkite. Sometimes I feel as though I’m walking in the footsteps of Lillian. It’s one of the reasons I enjoy giving female plumbers a place to shine here at Ensor.
Growing up, I watched my dad and granddad serve our community as plumbers. I’ve learned the family business as the counties we serve were developed, and more folks moved in. And I’m proud to steer our third-generation plumbing business as it grows with the area. Maybe I’ll never be interviewed on national TV, like Lillian, but I’ll proudly tell my family’s story to anyone who’ll listen.
