Not sure what to do for Dad on Father’s Day? Spending time together and doing something fun is just as good as, if not better than, offering up a novelty tie or snazzy socks. And fortunately for Carroll Countians, there is no shortage of fun to be had here on Father’s Day weekend (Father’s Day is Sunday, June 16). Check out some of these local events and be sure to take some selfies with Dad while enjoying the festivities to send to him for keepsakes.
Hometown Chili Cook-off and Custom Car Show
Enjoy live music, activities for the entire family, beverages including local craft beers and wine, a Kids Corner, dining and shopping along Historic Main Street. Local restaurants will compete for “Best Chili in 21771,” and Main Street will be lined with custom cars from all over the region. Live music includes JB and Stefan from noon to 2 p.m.; 4 on the Floor with Overdrive from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and the Patty Reese Band from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Westminster Beer & BBQ Stroll
Stroll through downtown Westminster while enjoying local beer, live music, artisans, and delicious BBQ platters prepared by several local establishments. Live entertainment featuring Ex’s & Oh’s and the Amish Outlaws, plus an open seating area. The entertainment lineup is as follows: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Ex’s & Oh’s; 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. the Amish Outlaws. General admission tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the event; VIP tickets are available.

Hudson Day at Taneytown History Museum
Hudson cars will be on display along with Hudson accessories and sales material. The Hudson Motor Car Company made Hudson and other brand automobiles in Detroit, Michigan, from 1909 to 1954.

Tool Sale at the Mission
Nothing screams Dad like tools! The Westminster Rescue Mission will host a tool sale, with items including ladders, shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows, lawn mowers and hand tools, as well as miscellaneous nails and other hardware.

First official Westminster Film Festival at the Carroll Arts Center
Come see incredible short films from local filmmakers! The First Official Westminster Film Festival showcases the work of student, independent, and amateur filmmakers from D.C., Maryland, Virginia, and Pennsylvania.
