More than 140 people rolled into the Westminster Riding Club on Saturday, February 10, for a few good laughs. With plenty of humor about the joys of living in a rural town and the foibles associated with finding love and growing older – comedians Randy David, Bob Maher, Joe Robinson, and Bird Knight provoked mirth from 8 until 10:30 p.m.
“I had a blast,” said Phyllis Traynor. “The most fun was listening to all the laughter and picking out the laughter of friends sitting clear across the room.”
Folks in the front row ducked lots of jokes at their expense. Westminster resident Frank Fiore probably had no way of knowing that his buddies had set him up for several comedic falls. But for “harmless fun,” Fiore’s friends talked to the comedians before the show and encouraged them to “take some jabs,” said Greg Cain, a Riding Club board member.
“We really enjoyed ourselves, and it was nice to be able to experience something like this without having to drive to Baltimore,” said Debbie Linard as she left the event with her husband, Greg.
“No doubt the event was an awesome success,” said Tracy Turner, the Riding Club’s social chairperson. “We will definitely do it again and bring in more people from the community.”
