The Carroll County Artists’ Studio Tour is a long-standing Carroll County tradition, with 2024 marking its 40th year. A broad range of works by talented artists from Carroll County will be on view in this celebratory group exhibition. An opening reception will take place on May 9 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Carroll Community College, Scott Gallery.

Community Health and Wellness Fair Calvary United Methodist Church, Mount Airy

Calvary United Methodist Church welcomes the community to participate in free blood pressure checks, HIV testing and hepatitis testing. Hospice, fitness groups, physical therapy, aid for women experiencing violence, an elder law attorney and agencies offering assistance for elderly, children and families will be present with information. Mount Airy Net, which provides food and emergency financial assistance and Calvary’s Diaper Ministry, will be accepting donations of nonperishable food items, diapers and baby wipes. Also attending are several agencies focused on addressing mental health issues and substance abuse recovery.

Inaugural Car Show

At the Landon C. Burns Park, Westminster Carroll County. Department of Recreation & Parks welcomes the community to its inaugural car show. Vehicles include autos, motorcycles and trucks. Parking will be available on grass fields at the park beginning at 7 a.m. Enjoy food trucks and a 50/50 raffle. Trophies will be presented at 11:30 a.m. Vehicle registration is $20; all proceeds benefit the youth fishing rodeos. This event is free for guests.

The Historical Society of Carroll County presents Jennifer Munch, who will discuss beekeeping and honey. In 2015, Jennifer Munch decided to add beekeeping to her projects around her farm. Living History Reenactment “The 1864 Eastern Campaign: The Wilderness” Carroll County Farm Museum, Westminster

The Battle of the Wilderness was the first battle of Union Gen. Ulysses S. Grant’s “Overland Campaign.” Grant’s goal was to defeat Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee’s Army of Northern Virginia and capture the South’s capital at Richmond. Battle reenactments will be on Saturday, April 27, and Sunday, April 28, at 1 p.m. Living historians in full costume will demonstrate infinity drilling, artillery firing and camp life throughout the day. Please note that the camp will close at 2 p.m. on Sunday. Food is available for purchase at the event. Admission: $10 per family, $5 per adult, $4 per senior (60 and older). Free parking.
