The Carroll County Artists’ Studio Tour is a long-standing Carroll County tradition, with 2024 marking its 40th year. A broad range of works by talented artists from Carroll County will be on view in this celebratory group exhibition. An opening reception will take place on May 9 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Carroll Community College, Scott Gallery.

Community Health and Wellness Fair Calvary United Methodist Church, Mount Airy

10AM – 2PM

Calvary United Methodist Church welcomes the community to participate in free blood pressure checks, HIV testing and hepatitis testing. Hospice, fitness groups, physical therapy, aid for women experiencing violence, an elder law attorney and agencies offering assistance for elderly, children and families will be present with information. Mount Airy Net, which provides food and emergency financial assistance and Calvary’s Diaper Ministry, will be accepting donations of nonperishable food items, diapers and baby wipes. Also attending are several agencies focused on addressing mental health issues and substance abuse recovery.

Second Annual Child Abuse Awareness Walk Dutterer Family Park, Westminster

The Carroll County Department of Social Services invites the community to participate in this annual walk during National Child Abuse Prevention Month. The Department of Social Services supports healthy families and protects children while raising awareness for gaps in resources and services. Enjoy light refreshments and a craft for all attendees.

Grow It Eat It Series: Good Bugs, Bad Bugs and What to Do About Them

At the Carroll County Extension Office, 700 Agricultural Center Dr., Westminster. The Carroll County Master Gardeners presents Good Bugs, Bad Bugs and What to Do About Them, a presentation of the Grow It Eat It series. The cost to attend is $7 per class; supplies are included. Individuals can sign up for the series or single classes.

Inaugural Car Show

9AM – 12PM

At the Landon C. Burns Park, Westminster Carroll County. Department of Recreation & Parks welcomes the community to its inaugural car show. Vehicles include autos, motorcycles and trucks. Parking will be available on grass fields at the park beginning at 7 a.m. Enjoy food trucks and a 50/50 raffle. Trophies will be presented at 11:30 a.m. Vehicle registration is $20; all proceeds benefit the youth fishing rodeos. This event is free for guests.

Kelly Bell Band Carroll Arts Center, 

7:30 PM

Celebrate the Carroll Arts Center’s 21st birthday with the Kelly Bell Band (KBB). The band has won two prestigious Maryland Music Awards, including Best Blues Band. KBB has been voted Best Blues Band in the Mid-Atlantic Region 12 years in a row. Tickets: $28-$32.

Box Lunch Talk: The Joys and Challenges of Beekeeping Grace Lutheran Church,

The Historical Society of Carroll County presents Jennifer Munch, who will discuss beekeeping and honey. In 2015, Jennifer Munch decided to add beekeeping to her projects around her farm. She will share her knowledge of bees, their important agricultural role and the history of honey, which has been in the human diet for more than 8,000 years. Cost: $3 for members, $7 for nonmembers.

Westminster Wine Stroll

Downtown Westminster Enjoy a tasting of local wines at this Sip, Shop & Stroll event as Main Street transforms into a wine mart with samples, wine-related vendors and great food. Live entertainment will feature The Reagan Years. Tickets range from $15 to $225 for a VIP Experience Table. Two tokens will be included with all tickets to redeem for alcoholic or nonalcoholic beverages. All other drinks and food must be purchased separately.

“Don’t Dress for Dinner” Carroll Community College, Westminster

Various show times.

Carroll Community College’s theater program presents “Don’t Dress for Dinner.” In this show, Bernard plans a romantic weekend with his Parisian mistress in his charming French farmhouse while his wife Jacqueline is away. He has invited his best friend Robert to provide the alibi. An evening of hilarious confusion ensues as everyone improvises at breakneck speed in this farce-like comedy. Tickets: $5-$10. Rated PG-13 due to adult subject matter.

Historical Society 10th Annual 
Legacy Gala: Fly Me to the Moon Antrim 1844, Taneytown 6-11 p.m.

Join the Historical Society of Carroll County for a Legacy Gala to celebrate its 85th anniversary. The milestone anniversary will include dining, dancing and socializing. The theme is based on Frank Sinatra’s iconic song “Fly Me to The Moon.”

Living History Reenactment “The 1864 Eastern Campaign: The Wilderness” Carroll County Farm Museum, Westminster


The Battle of the Wilderness was the first battle of Union Gen. Ulysses S. Grant’s “Overland Campaign.” Grant’s goal was to defeat Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee’s Army of Northern Virginia and capture the South’s capital at Richmond. Battle reenactments will be on Saturday, April 27, and Sunday, April 28, at 1 p.m. Living historians in full costume will demonstrate infinity drilling, artillery firing and camp life throughout the day. Please note that the camp will close at 2 p.m. on Sunday. Food is available for purchase at the event. Admission: $10 per family, $5 per adult, $4 per senior (60 and older). Free parking.

Alexandra Johannsen: Evolution of Song Carroll Community College, Westminster


Enjoy an exciting variety of classical music works representing key developments throughout the early evolution and diversification of the genre. From classical oratorio to romantic German lieder, comic operetta to flowery French mélodie, there’s something for everyone in this classical music “tasting menu.” The performance features music by Handel, Mozart, Brahms, Donizetti, Strauss, Faure and more. Taneytown Fishing Derby Roberts Mill Park, Taneytown

Registration opens at 8 a.m., with fishing from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Every contestant receives a hot dog and drink at the end of the derby. Age groups run from 5 and younger up to 15. Bring your fishing pole, bait, a bucket and a chair if you like. Admission is free.

The 11th annual event will feature perennials, especially native plants, annuals, vegetables, herbs, houseplants and some woody plants.
