The 2022 farmers’ market season is about to kick off in Carroll County. Whether you’re looking for fresh food items, handmade crafts, or just an opportunity to be a part of the community scene, Carroll’s farmers’ markets have something for everyone.

As always, locally sourced produce, meats, baked goods, plants, and crafts will be available for purchase. Some markets offer live entertainment, demonstrations and other activities as well. Support local and be sure to check each market’s website or Facebook page for additional information and updates as the season unfolds.


Carroll County Farmers’ Market

In its 51st year, the Carroll County Farmers’ Market offers
75-100 vendors selling seasonal produce, home-baked goods, gourmet foods, local eggs, pasture-raised meats, handmade crafts, houseplants, seasonal plants and decorations. This year, the Easter Show will be held on April 16 and the Mother’s Day and Rhododendron Show will be held on May 7. The summer season opens June 18 and continues until Sept. 3 every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Celebrate Fall will be held on Oct. 1. The Christmas Market will be open every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. from Nov. 5 through Dec. 17.

Downtown Westminster Farmers’ Market

The 2022 Downtown Westminster Farmers’ Market will be open rain or shine every Saturday May 14 to Nov. 19, 8 a.m.-noon. The market has about two dozen vendors that carry local produce, meats, eggs, prepared foods, baked items, cheese, dog and cat treats, local wine and spirits, artisan merchandise, and flowers. The market also offers a weekly breakfast vendor with a seating area, live music and free Wi-Fi. Follow them on Facebook for weekly updates.

Hampstead Farmers’ Market

The 13th annual Hampstead Farmers’ Market has local vendors offering local produce, meats, cheeses, breads, fresh-cut flowers and more. Craft vendors offer jewelry, soaps, pottery, and crocheted and hand-sewn items. Visitors can enjoy live music as they shop as well as breakfast items. This season, the event will once again be located by the water tower on the grounds of the Panther Sportsplex, formerly North Carroll High School. The season runs every Saturday, June through September, from 8:30 a.m. to noon.

Mount Airy Main Street Farmers’ Market

Vendors will be selling fresh produce, baked goods, meats, cheeses, eggs, popcorn, value-added and freshly prepared foods, and local artisan crafts. The event is a Mount Airy Main Street Association production in partnership with the town of Mount Airy. The season opens June 1 and continues until Sept. 28 each Wednesday. Times are 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Sykesville Farmers’ Market

The Sykesville Farmers’ Market is located on Baldwin Drive and Main Street, near the shops and attractions. This location makes the event a community gathering which supports all of Sykesville’s local merchants. The market will run from May 15 to Oct. 30, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Along with over 40 food and craft vendors offering local produce, herbs, olives, meats, baked goods, and jewelry, the market provides family-friendly entertainment to keep the kids engaged as well. The Junior Market will return this year, entirely operated by the kids. Check the website for a list of vendors.

Taneytown Farmers’ Market

The Taneytown Farmers’ Market offers produce,
fresh-cut flowers, herbs, potted plants, baked
goods, cheese, and crafts. The season opens the Saturday of Mother’s Day weekend and ends the first Saturday in November. Hours are 8 a.m. to
1 p.m.
