On Dec. 16, the Deer Park Methodist Cemetery in Westminster will join Arlington National Cemetery and approximately 1,200 other cemeteries across the
country to honor those who have served in our armed forces. National organization Wreaths Across America works to remember, honor and teach by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies at cemeteries across the county, at sea and abroad. The national theme for 2017 is “I am an American. Yes, I am.”
There are 140 veteran graves at Deer Park United Methodist Church at 2200 Sykesville Road in Westminster and event organizers plan to place a wreath at each of those grave sites during a ceremony at noon Dec. 16. The community is welcome to attend. Volunteers are needed to help place the wreaths and donations are needed to purchase the wreaths.
